Open Call Scout Nights
Are you a maker or designer with an emerging practice in the field of design, architecture and/or digital culture who would like to apply for a talent development grant, but you have not completed regular studies in an artistic discipline? In this case, submit your portfolio for one of the scout nights organized by the Creative Industries Fund NL within the framework of the Talent Development grant programme. The deadline is 6 March 2020.
During the scout nights, makers who have built their practice outside the usual route for the design sector will have the opportunity to pitch their work in front of a small jury and apply for the first round of the Talent Development grant programme. This year we are organizing scout nights in Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Rotterdam and Utrecht. For each scout night, a maximum of ten makers are invited to pitch their idea on the basis of their portfolio.
If you would like to compete for a place on a scouting night, please submit your portfolio (maximum 15 pages) and your CV (maximum 2 pages) via our online application environment. A portfolio may also consist of an Instagram account or video. The deadline is 6 March 2020, at 23:59.
The Open Call Scout Nights takes place within the framework of the Talent Development grant programme. With this grant programme, the Fund stimulates a new generation of designers and makers in the further development and profiling of their own exceptional design practice. The scout nights are specifically intended for designers and makers who have not followed or completed regular art education. In this way, the Fund enables designers and makers from different social, economic and cultural backgrounds to develop further artistically and professionalize their design practice.
The budget for this open call is € 12,000. This allows up to three participants per city to be selected. Those selected will each receive € 1,000 for drawing up a development plan to be submitted for the second round of the grant application. The scout nights are private and take place between 6 and 10 April. Click here for an impression of the Scout Nights 2019.
If you are selected during one of the scout nights, you will receive € 1,000 to write a development plan for a grant of € 24,000. This plan will be assessed in the second and final round of the Talent Development grant programme by the advisory committee of this grant programme, together with the plans it selected in the first round as part of the regular procedure. In this second round, the committee selects a maximum of 35 makers for a talent development grant.
