In 2011, Alice Wong obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design at the University of Huddersfield (West Yorkshire, UK), followed by her Master’s at the Design Academy Eindhoven, specializing in Information Design, in 2015. As a designer and storyteller, she is interested in analysing, filtering and processing complex information flows in order to translate them into visually appealing stories. In the next year, she plans to further develop her design methodology and explore how information shapes our ideologies and societies. Wong is taking her own experiences as the framework for this wide-ranging theme. The project, with the working title ‘Reconstructing Reality 2’, will comprise different perspectives, non-fiction and fiction, data and sources as a way of assessing how a single woman in her late 20s is constructed and presented in different patriarchal societies.

Job van den Berg

Job van den Berg, 2018

Job van den Berg obtained his Bachelor of Design from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2015. Van den Berg is a furniture-product designer with a special interest in research into materials and industrial production processes. From this perspective, he wants to explore and extend the existing boundaries of materials and their treatment processes. He works directly with the industry and develops products from start to finish. He subsequently aims to make this tangible and accessible to a wide audience through presentations. The projects he will focus on in the coming year are: Metal Skins, Glasslab and O-Series. In addition, he is exploring the possibilities for setting up a design label, he will collaborate with various parties in the industry and would like to follow a course in meditation.

Studio Bernhard Lenger

Studio Bernhard Lenger, 2018

Bernhard Lenger graduated in Man and Leisure from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2016. As a designer he focuses on connecting the design world with the world of international law, politics and human rights. He does this based on the conviction that designers can have a positive impact on social issues and can possibly bring about system change through their creative process. In the coming year he will develop a new design methodology and further position himself as a designer who works together with government institutions and other organizations. In this way he aims to put design more firmly on the agenda. He will also further professionalize his We Are studio and foundation and acquire skills in preparation for his field research in Burundi, for instance by following a course in European Policies and a Physical Security training.

Ninamounah

Ninamounah, 2018

In 2017 Ninamounah Langestraat obtained her bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Ninamounah is a fashion designer who uses fashion as a research method from the perspective of biology and anthropology. Ninamounah is driven by an interest in humanity and investigates how the clothed human is celebrated, but also repressed as a result of cultural-historical structures. In the coming year, Ninamounah wants to professionalize her design and production practice and within it explore environmentally friendly production, without compromising on her aesthetics. She would also like to present her brand to a wider audience that is independent of market-driven investors and public funding. One of the places she will present her work is at the Paris Fashion Week.

Gino Anthonisse

Gino Anthonisse, 2018

Gino Anthonisse graduated in 2014 from the Fashion and Textiles Department of the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (KABK). As a clothing designer Anthonisse focuses on the role of fashion within our current society and his position herein. For Anthonisse, fashion is more than just clothing, because he believes it’s about an experience. He often strips clothing of its function and searches within this context for new combinations of classic garments, ethnic elements and various materials and techniques. In the past year he has mainly been involved with the collective Das Leben am Haverkamp. In the coming year he wants to focus primarily on his personal professionalization. Anthonisse will experiment with ‘living collage installations’ in which performance, clothing, photography and sound come together in sculptural forms.

Vera de Pont

Vera de Pont, 2018

Vera de Pont graduated in 2017 from the Applied Arts master at the Sandberg Institute, after obtaining a bachelor’s degree at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. De Pont designs and creates fashion in which redesign, customization and on-demand production are central, in order to contribute to a more sustainable fashion industry. In her development plan, De Pont focuses on developing a digital parametric design model to enable 3D visualization and personalized production. Under the name The Assembly Lab, the designer is developing software that is accessible to the end user and generates a digital file as output that can serve as input for a 3D printer or digital embroidery machine. The result will be a small collection of five jackets, made using the software and digital production methods.
